Upcoming Conventions: Dragon*Con!

As things off-line have been quite stressful and hectic this past summer, I’m back to explain some things that have kept me away from updates. Unemployment and family problems, namely, though both have been thankfully resolved. I’m now working full-time for Tor Books, and also, I want to announce my guest status at Dragon*Con’s fabulous Alternate History Track in Atlanta next week. There, I will be speaking on behalf of Beyond Victoriana and also be representing Tor at several panels. Check out the details after the jump.

Steampunk: The Evolution of the Revolution
Description: See the spectacle of some of the leading voices in Steampunk debate and defend their definition of Steampunk and where they see the movement heading! Co-hosting with Doctor Q ; featured panelists are Margaret Killjoy of Steampunk Magazine, Austin Sirkin, Pablo Vasquez, and Thomas Willeford.

Envisioning a Better Steam Society: Social Issues & Steampunk
Description: In an aesthetic based on a historical era rife with sexism, racism and classist thinking, can Steampunk come to terms with its problematic past? Featured panelists are Lucretia Dearfor and Trisha Wooldridge.

The World is Bigger Than England: Multi-Culturalism in the Alt. Hist Environment
Description: The 19th century spirit of exploration begs to highlight cultural histories and hallmarks beyond the British Isles. Co-hosting with Philippa Ballantine, co-author of the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences series; fellow panelists Pablo Vasquez, Mark Rossmore, and Jeni Hellum of Multiculturalism for Steampunk.

Race Relations in Alternate History
